The club will reopen on Wednesday 5th October 2022 and we are going to start the season with a Blitz Tournament! The competition is open to all so non-members are most welcome and there will be a trophy for this first event of the season to keep!
The 54th Annual General Meeting of the Seaton Chess Club was held on 17th August 2022. The meeting enjoyed a very good turnout with 8 members in attendance.
As well as discussing club matters for the forthcoming year, the trophies for the club championship were presented by the chairman, Jon Underwood, with Paul Hampton receiving the Cheeseman Club for winning the Club Championship.
Gill Morgan won both the Caines Cup and Porter Cup with an exceptional performance in the Open Major section of the Club Championship.
Joe Ford won the junior section of the Club Championship and is recipient of the new Bryn Newton Shield, which was kindly funded by Gill Morgan and Steve Dean.
The AGM for Seaton Chess Club will take place on Wednesday 17th August 2022 at 6.30pm.
Please attend if you can as there will be some important decisions to make for the club so we need as much representation as we can. We will also be presenting the club trophies for the various club competitions held this season.
For further details on location or if you need help with transport please get in touch with the Secretary:
Luke Honey, from Exeter Chess Club, has won the 8th Jurassic Blitz Tournament.
Luke and Paul Hampton both scored 5/6, but Luke pipped Paul to the title after a tiebreak.
Ray Hunt and Nicky Bacon shared 3rd Place with 4/6.
There was an impressive turnout of 14 players coming as far afield as Exeter and Taunton.
Many thanks to everyone who played and who contributed prizes, and special thanks to Steve and Jon for organising and running the event.
