There was success for Seaton players at the Sidmouth Chess Club Blitz Handicap, which was held on the 6th January 2025. This is a fun event run annually by Sidmouth Chess Club with stronger players being given less time to complete all their moves! Seaton players feature in 3 of the 4 finalist with Paul Hampton and Toby Ralph, both from the Seaton club, battling out the final best-of-three showdown.
The final was a tense affair with Paul having 2 minutes for all his moves and Toby having 7 minutes, due to the grading differences. After winning a game each, the final game went down to the wire with Paul winning with only 12 seconds left on the clock!
Well done to Seaton players and many thanks to Sidmouth Chess Club for organising this hugely entertaining event!
